Clackmannanshire Technology Enabled Care Service

Technology Enabled Care Service (also known as MECS) is a community alarm service provided by Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnership to enable vulnerable people and their carers to call for assistance in an emergency at any time, day or night. The service uses a range of technology to monitor the environment and enable people to summon assistance.

Services Offered

Older Adults

An initial assessment is carried out to identify if someone would benefit from the service and to ascertain which specific types of equipment are required.

A Support Worker then arranges a visit to install a unit which can be connected through a telephone line or in some situations using a SIM card. The support worker will explain how to operate the unit in the event of an emergency.

A charge of £3.50 per week is made for MECS equipment.

If people are experiencing difficulty in paying for the service a financial assessment can be requested. There is currently no charge if the person has a diagnosis of dementia and in exceptional circumstances charges may be waived.

Payment can be made via direct debit, or option to pay quarterly (every 3 months) following receipt of invoice.

Charges will be in arrears.
